Jim Kelly As A Teen

Survivor Jim Kelly committed suicide on October 12, 2003

Jim Kelly, who had given us permission post his picture in the Survivors First picture gallery , committed suicide. His abuser was James Hanley. Three of Jim's brothers were abused by Hanley as well as Mark Serrano, Buddy Cotton and many others in Mendham, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be sent to SnapHost, c/o St. Joseph Church, 6 New St., Mendham, N.J. 07945, in his memory.

Here is his obituary.

KELLY - James Thomas, age 37, of Morristown, N.J., on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, son of Paul and Eileen Kelly, brother of Mary Darian of Mendham, Eileen Kelly of Summit, Patrick of Mendham, John of Morristown, Paul of Florida, Thomas of Morristown and Matthew of Morris Township. A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered Wednesday at 12 noon at St. Joseph Church, Mendham. Visiting Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at The BAILEY FUNERAL HOME, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Interment Hilltop Cemetery, Mendham. In lieu of flowers, donations to SnapHost, c/o St. Joseph Church, 6 New St., Mendham, N.J. 07945, in his memory would be appreciated.

Our thoughts go out to his family. This is also a reminder of all of the deep evil and horror of this scandal; it should also energize each of us to do what ever we can as an activist to help.
